Metalworking Coolant Eradicates Bacteria and Fungus Build Up

Customer requirements

Chem Arrow was recently approached by a manufacturer in the automotive industry. This company had been experiencing bacteria build-up and fungus in the machine sump with their current metalworking fluid. This resulted in shorter sump life, unacceptable downtime levels and increased disposal costs.

Metal chips in the sump create an ideal breeding ground for bacteria. Increased levels of bacteria will break down the metalworking fluid emulsion which lowers the pH of the fluid and therefore reduces overall fluid performance. It is essential to clean machines to optimize the performance of your fluid.

Summary

After thorough lab analysis, Chem Arrow provided a deep machine clean and recommended ArrowCool SEM-917-B to replace the previous coolant throughout the workshop.

These changes resulted in:

  • Improved machine cleanliness
  • Decreased machine downtime
  • Decreased fluid usage
  • Reduced waste disposal

After making the changes Chem Arrow recommended, the maintenance manager stated:

“Following our machine clean and ArrowCool replacement fluid, we have seen improved cleanliness on all parts and machines, coupled with enhanced performance and finish. We have been most impressed.”
